Description

Norovirus is the major cause of nonbacterial gastroenteritis associated with outbreaks and sporadic cases in humans. Norovirus affects all age groups, with an incubation period of 24 to 48 hours and typically lasts up to 3 days with symptoms of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, headache and fever. Detection of viral antigen in stool helps confirm individual cases and define outbreaks.
